Ashby Tunnel, West Portal

This is another commission in the Ticknall collection.  Again, all I had to work from were a set of photos, some quite old, some more modern taken by Tunnel Gricer.

The finished look was to include some of the white effervescent leakage, although the tunnel is still intended to be 'in-use' on the layout.

The portal size was gauged from some photos of people around the entrance, plus a use of some 1:76 scale wagons. The main parts were cut from 3mm mdf, with an 80mm tunnel length, and 80mm long wing walls.  The whole model was covered with SEF brick embossed plastic sheet, with a brick entrance arch etched and cut on thin mdf.

Included on the model, by one of the wing walls, is the curious round brick object - of which no-one seems to know the exact purpose.
