This 4mm scale house was requested by a customer, to add character to his model layout of the Ticknall line near Ashby-de-la-Zouch.
Working only from a selection of old photographs, a design was agreed and transferred to the computer. After drawing the necessary parts, the walls, chimneys and other details were laser cut, using an appropriate thickness of MDF in each case. The windows, doors and shutters were painted prior to assembly.
The main walls were glued together, then coated in a gel to provide a rendered affect. This was then spray painted in matt white. The doors & windows were fitted, the slate roof tiles added and the chimneys made up and wrapped with a suitable brick paper. The pots are from Modelu.
The house was then fitted with a base, and gates, a path and some basic greenery were added.
"A little sceptical as to how good this model would be, with it taken from only a few vague photographs, but I was more than impressed with the result, a realistic representation of a long gone structure, a structure I can now see in in all its glory." LT, client
